Speaker bio: Angela Ferguson, Onondaga Eel Clan, grew up on the Tuscarora Nation territories in western New York, where she learned about the care and prepareation of traditional foods. A dedicated grower, today Angela is the Supervisor of the Onondaga Nation Farm. The farm practices all aspects of Food Sovereignity for their community. Her many passions include Haudenosaunee Traditional Agriculture, Seed Caring, Bee Keeping, Foraging, Traditional Cooking Methods, Maple Tapping, Haudenosaunee Nutrition Education, Knowledge Sharing, Youth Mentorship, & Traditional Hide Tanning.
She travels across Turtle Island to expand and share her knowledge about indigenous seeds and ancestral food preparations. She is also one of the founding coordinators of the Braiding the Sacred Network, an all Indigenous network of corn growers across Turtle Island.
Please read before registering: Our setting is outside in an intimate community garden. Please be prepared for an outdoor setting and bring what you need to make yourself comfortable. The space is confined in a way that we will likely be packing in together, with room in the back for those who want more space. There are mosquitos! We will provide some resistence but you are encouraged to provide your own. There are limited numbers of chairs- please consider bringing a chair or blanket to sit on. Lastly, please be mindful and respectful to the garden we will be visiting. Watch where your stepping!
There will be a family style dinner buffet served after the talk.
